21st July 2021 – (Hong Kong) Netizens launched the “Operation Dawn” in November 2019 to block roads in multiple districts. The police wanted to enter the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to search for rioters which caused a backlash from CUHK students. The two sides broke out fierce clashes on the second bridge of CUHK.
During this period, 4 students from different colleges and universities were arrested and charged with riots and the use of masks. The case started in the District Court in April this year, and the presiding judge earlier convicted two of them for rioting. The three people were also convicted of violating the anti-mask law.
The three defendants aged 20-25 were sentenced to between 2 months to 4 years and 6 months in prison today (21st).
