27th July 2021 – (Taiwan) Taiwanese media reported yesterday that Taiwan’s “Apple Daily” employees received layoff news and a total of 200 of them may be laid off. Taiwan’s “Apple Daily” labour union issued a statement on the same day confirming the news.
The layoffs in multiple departments range from 30% to 50%. The detailed plan will be announced on the 30th of this month and the employees will be released on 30th July and staff will leave their positions on 30th September.
Ip Yut Kin is chief executive officer of Apple Daily Limited and Apple Daily Publication Development Limited who is currently in Taiwan has been requested to handle the situation.
