13th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) A dispute over relationship issue between a 62-year-old man and 42-year-old woman resulted in the tragic deaths of 3 lives in 100 square feet sub-divided flat in Tai Po.
It is reported that the deceased woman, nicknamed “Fong Fong”, was unemployed and had developed multiple relationships with different men. She had two daughters who had two different fathers and they depended on CSSA for their livelihood. Fong Fong was suspected of being addicted to gambling and owed gambling debts. She met the 62-year-old man during a mahjong session in 2017. The other party promised to pay her debts and take care of her and her two daughters. They then moved into a 100-square feet unit on 6th floor of a tenemnt block at Heung Sze Wui Square in Tai Po.
The man later suspected that Fong Fong had an affair with another man. After a dispute early morning yesterday, he slashed her with her two daughters with knife and set fire to the unit, killing all three of them. Both young girls were studying in primary and secondary schools in the district, they were in Secondary One and Primary Two respectively.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the causes of their deaths. Investigation by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po District is underway. Around 13 residents were self-evacuated to places of safety in the incident.
