Former waiter Tong Ying-kit has pleaded not guilty to charges of terrorism and inciting secession, as well as an alternative charge of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
Three national security law judges convicted Tong on the two crimes of terrorism and inciting secession on Tuesday (27th). After hearing the defence’s plea again this morning, they decided to adjourn sentencing to 3pm tomorrow (30th). The maximum penalty for Tong’s charge is life imprisonment.
The court accepted the prosecution expert from the Department of History of Lingnan University who stated that the slogan had the meaning of secession.
