20th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) Cempaka is drifting steadily towards the western coast of Guangdong. According to the present forecast track, Cempaka is expected to make landfall over that region later today, moving gradually away from Hong Kong and weakening. The local winds are weakening progressively. The Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal, No. 1 to replace the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 in the next few hours.
In defiance of the weather conditions, 2 males and 2 females went hiking at Ma On Shan at around 10.45am today. One of them was suspected to be caught by flood water near Hero Waterfall and went missing. His friends were shocked and called the police. Rescuers arrived at the scene to conduct search operation.
