14th January 2025 – (Phnom Penh) At the age of 70, Lee Kwok-Lun, a prominent Hong Kong actor, has emerged as a notable patriotic figure, leveraging social media to engage audiences with fresh and compelling content. His recent appearance on Cambodian television has garnered significant attention, reflecting his rising popularity and influence.
During his visit to Cambodia, Lee met with Sok Prasidh, the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Information, who also holds a position within the Cambodian anti-terrorism department. The meeting, which focused on exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s broadcasting sector, was a significant aspect of Lee’s trip, aligning with the growing cooperation between Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China.
Lee recalled their prior acquaintance, stating, “Five years ago, I was a guest at a boxing event in Cambodia. He noted my presence and remarked on my failure to reach out during my visit.” The actor expressed surprise at being featured on the local news, a testament to the impact of his visit.
Amidst rising concerns over safety in Southeast Asia, particularly regarding scams, Lee remained unperturbed. He acknowledged that every location has its challenges, advising travellers to be mindful of their surroundings. “Every place has its darker side, but I believe that with awareness, one can navigate safely,” he noted.
Having lived in Hong Kong for many years, Lee drew parallels between his experiences in different countries, including the U.K., where his daughter is currently studying. He emphasised the importance of understanding local dynamics, asserting that even in well-regarded regions, caution is essential.
