Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem advances to top 16 to face Dutch player Eerland Britt this evening

27th July 2021 – (Tokyo) In the third round of the women’s singles table tennis in the Tokyo Olympics, Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem  defeated South Korea’s 17-year-old Shin Yu-bin to advance to the top 16. Doo who played in the Olympics for the second time, fell behind to 7:10 in the first game and then scored 5 points in a row. In a sudden turn of events, she then won by 12:10.

During the second set, Doo won again by 11:5. However, Doo lost two consecutive sets by 8:11 and 8:11 before winning two more sets by 11:4 and 11:6. She won by a total sets of 4 against 2.

She successfully advanced to the top 16 and will face Dutch player Eerland Britt at 6.30pm tonight to compete for the top 8 seats.
