Online media reporter held at Chai Wan Police Station to ‘assist in investigation’ with regards to police assassination case on 1st July

27th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) On 1st July this year, Leung Kin-fai was suspected of assaulting a police officer in Causeway Bay and then committed suicide. It is reported that an online media reporter who filmed the incident at the time was accompanied by a lawyer on the day after the incident to give her statement at the Wan Chai Police Headquarters.

During last night, officers from the National Security Department of the police arrived at the reporter’s temporary residence and asked her to go to the police station to make a statement again. It is reported that the reporter, without a lawyer, went to the police station to give a statement, and was then taken back to her original residence to search for evidence. At 1am today (27th), a lawyer representing the reporter arrived at the Chai Wan Police Station to accompany her to take a statement. It is known that the reporter is still “assisting in investigation”.
