Police arrest 67 people in anti-vice operation in Mong Kok

24th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) Police inspected more than 20 units and different places in Mong Kong in the past 2 days, smashed 8 illegal gambling dens, a drug den and a prostitution establishment. Police seized 37 fishing arcade game machines, an electric mahjong table, a baccarat table, a batch of prostitution related items, a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and suspected heroin.

The total value of all seized exhibits exceeded HK$400,000. During the operation, the police arrested 67 people, including 39 men and 28 women (25 to 66 years old), suspected of “operating illegal gambling establishments”, “gambling in gambling establishments”, “managing prostitution establishment”, “managing drug dens”, “drug trafficking”, “burglary”, “attacking police officers”, “obstructing police officers from performing their duties”.

In addition, 6 male and 2 female persons in charge of illegal gambling dens and prostitution establishment (26 to 66 years old) were also suspected of violating the “Prevention and Control of Diseases (Regulations and Instructions) (Business and Premises Regulations)” (Cap 599F); Among them, 20 men and 20 women (25 to 62 years old) were charged for violating the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Cap 599G).

All arrested persons have been released on bail pending further investigations. They must report to the police in late August.
