8th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Tai Kwun is excited to announce the return of InnerGlow and InnerGlow Searchlight in 2025, featuring stunning 3D mapped projections that celebrate Hong Kong’s artistic creativity. The event will illuminate the Parade Ground from 26th January to 14th February, 2025, coinciding with the Lunar New Year festivities.
For the fourth consecutive year, InnerGlow will light up the façade of the Barrack Block with captivating visuals every evening from 6:30pm to 9pm. InnerGlow Searchlight, now in its second year, will showcase the innovative works of 23 student artists across various historic building façades at Tai Kwun.
This year’s highlight, “Garden of Reflection,” created by local new media artist Hung Keung in collaboration with Australia’s leading projection mapping specialists, The Electric Canvas, explores the relationship between traditional Chinese characters and modern digital art. The installation is divided into three themes, each reimagining ancient forms of expression through contemporary technology.
Additionally, “Garden of Reflection 2.0” will transform Pottinger Ramp, featuring dynamic characters amidst vibrant flowers, creating a sensory experience for visitors. The event will also celebrate the zodiac sign of the Year of the Snake, integrating traditional Chinese motifs into the display.
InnerGlow Searchlight reinforces Tai Kwun’s dedication to nurturing emerging talents alongside established artists. It will feature nine works from participating student artists, enriching their skills in animation under the mentorship of professionals.
Both InnerGlow and InnerGlow Searchlight will be free to the public, offering a dazzling showcase of digital projections and animations that celebrate Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage while looking towards a bright future. This year’s event promises to be a spectacular way to welcome the Lunar New Year.
