27th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) A large number of citizens watched the Hong Kong Fencing Team’s representative Cheung Ka-long at the APM mall last night (26th). However, some people booed when the national anthem was played. Some legal profession experts believe that the behaviour involves a violation of the National Anthem Law. They criticised the behaviour as extremely immature and it was a demonstration of disrespect to the players and even the country.
It is understood that the police will follow up the incident. It can be seen from the clip that hundreds of citizens watched the live broadcast of the match at the Kwun Tong APM shopping mall last night. When Cheng stepped onto the podium and the national anthem was played, some Hong Kong citizens booed loudly in the mall. Later, some people chanted the “We are Hong Kong” slogan. Other citizens clapped and responded, and some even raised the British colonial flag of Hong Kong
